Chicago, Illinois (iTourist.Com News) – Over 300 flights were cancelled at Chicago’s O’Hare and Midway Airports this morning. Blizzard conditions in the upper plains have also caused multi-auto pileups such as the one in Fremont, Nebraska, yesterday.

Just as Chicago is digging out and operations returning to normal, additional snow is forecast tomorrow with a weather system that’ll bring a wave of bitterly cold air down from the Artic. The Chicago area is currently under a Wind Chill Watch because of the bitterly cold conditions. As the wind picks up, there will also be blowing and drifting of snow with strong north winds, which could make travel hazardous.

Travel will be cold as the northern half of the United States goes into a deep freeze. Grand Forks, North Dakota hit a record low of -37 degrees (F) this morning; in Chicago it will reach -1 (F) tonight, but Thursday as the cold air settles in, the high temperature will be a mere 3 degrees (F). Factor in the wind chill and it becomes even colder.

As the cold air sinks to the south, it could get as cold as 18 degrees (F) on Friday morning in Atlanta while temperatures dip to 36 degrees (F) in Orlando, Florida.

For those attending the inauguration, temperatures will be warming up with an expected high temperature of 36 degrees (F) in Washington, D.C., next Tuesday.
