Lahaina is located on the western side of the island of Maui and is the primary city on the western side of the island. Ka’anapali and Kapalua are the primary resort areas on the western side of the island and both just a short drive. While Lahaina has a large array of shops and places to dine, it is famous for its Banyan Tree which currently stands 50 ft in height, spans about 200 feet in length and provides almost an acre of shade. The Banyan Tree is located off Front Street and is a popular meeting point as well as a great place to sit and relax.

Front Street is the primary street in Lahaina and the area is pedestrian oriented.  Lahaina also hosts some historic properties, The Fort which dates back to 1831, The Courthouse which was built in 1859, The Baldwin Home from 1834, and The Prison built in 1851. The Courthouse is now being used by the Lahaina Arts Society and by the Lahaina Visitor’s Center.

The average temperature in Lahaina and the resort areas on the west side of the island is 75-85 F. If you look at the mountains towards the east from Lahaina, it is common to see spectacular rainbows. Despite the crowds in the evening and the restaurants, shops, and bars, Lahaina is an early city & most places close by 10pm.
