With the wind whistling in your ears and the warm sunshine beating down on you, hang gliding in Queensland is a free flying experience you won’t want to miss. Soar above the area around Canungra, or head north for the Morning Glory.
If you find yourself in the area between Mount Tambourine and Beechmont, look up to the sky and you may see a hang glider or paraglider from the local club riding the ridge lifts above the hill. If you’d like to know what it looks like from up there, the conditions here are perfect for anyone from beginners who won’t lift too far off the ground to the more adventurous gliders that reach heights of up to ten thousand feet!
Soar high above the earth while taking an instructional flight in the loftiest classroom around. Going tandem in a hang glider or paraglider is the fastest way to learn all you need to know about riding the Queensland air currents. You’ll soon be gliding on your own, experiencing the freedom of a solo flight with the eagles.
Even though it only happens between August and November, and you’d have to be crazy to try it, surfing the Morning Glory deserves a mention. Only the bravest hang glider would attempt this flight, riding a massive continuously-rolling cloud formation that comes in over the northern waters and onto the shore. Don’t try this unless you really know what you’re doing!
