New South Wales is in south-eastern Australian and is the most populous and heavily industrialised State in Australia, with a highly urban population.
Its capital is Sydney, Australia's largest city and one of the world's great seaports. The total area of the State is 802 000 km2 or 10.4 per cent of Australia's total area and includes Lord Howe, a small island in the Pacific Ocean.
NSW is divided into four main zones by natural features stretching from north to south. The coastal area stretches for an incredible 1460km , with inlets, bays and beaches offering sunlovers spectacular opportunities to enjoy the coast.
The Great Dividing Range is an almost unbroken ridge of plateaus, creating the tablelands and the origin of the state’s main rivers. The Snowy Mountains region has the highest peak on the continent, Mount Kosciusko, which rises 2228 m above sea level.
The Western Plains make up almost two thirds of NSW, and offer insight into rugged life in early Australian history. Experience a taste of the outback and explore the history of Australia just a few hours inland from cosmopolitan Sydney.
The rich soil of the Western Slopes have created the heart of NSW agriculture, with undulating plains and the Murray-Darling river system offering visitors a rich array of scenery.
