There’s nothing quite like rappelling down a vertical cliff face through the forest or against the backdrop of the rugged north. Western Australia has a variety of abseiling sites that are sure to leave you wanting to climb back to the top for more.

Margaret River might be more well known for its fantastic surf, but only twenty minutes away is the premier abseiling site of the south-west. The Wilyabrup Sea Cliffs overlook the vast Indian Ocean from the Leeuwin-Naturalist National Park, and provide a drop you’ll never forget. If you’re a beginner, you’ll start out on the smaller cliffs, moving higher until you’re ready to take on the forty metre Steel Wall! If you’re already an expert, just start at the top.

The far north of Western Australia is rough country, making perfect abseiling conditions. Kalbarri is one of the premier destinations of the state, and one of the most picturesque. Rappel down the famous red cliffs of this beautiful piece of the country for a taste of abseiling in real outback terrain.

If you’re closer to Perth, the hills that overlook the city offer abseiling that will not only give you a thrill but allows you to experience the wonders of the forest too. Start out in the hills near the city and trek your way south to the ridges of the Stirling Ranges for a travelling abseil tour.
