Unique and Diverse: Discover spectacular cities, historic monuments, rolling green hills, spectacular beaches and a taste of Moroccan landscapes combined with the unique culture in Spain. Visit roman ruins, Gothic and Renaissance cathedrals, and new and unique modern architecture – You’ll see and appreciate the contrast between the old and new. The two major, and best known cities in Spain are Barcelona and Madrid. There are many other spectacular cities to visit including Valencia, Seville, Bilbao, Cordoba, and Granada. Spain is divided into a number of unique regions that are diverse in their language, culture, cuisine, and art.

Regions of Spain

Andalucía – Aragon – Asturias -- Basque Country -- the Balearic Islands -- the Canary Islands – Cantabria -- Castilla La Mancha -- Castilla León – Catalunya – Extremadura – Galicia -- La Rioja – Madrid – Murcia -- Navarra -- Valencia.

With the different regions, you’ll find Linguistic diversity. Spanish is spoken in Spain along with four other languages and many dialects.

Beaches of Spain

Located on the Mediterranean and Atlantic Ocean, combined with the Balearic Islands and Canary Islands, Spain has some fantastic beaches.

Picturesque and calm beaches can be found near Cadiz and Almería in the south as well as near the coasts of La Manga, Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and Euskadi. If you’re looking for action, visit one of the highly developed resort towns – there are many such beaches on the Costa de la Luz and the Costa del Sol. The Harbour of Almerimar is interesting with its cosy bars, just south of El Ejido (Almeria).

Art in Spain

Get out of the big cities and into the countryside. Spain has many wildlife parks in addition to areas well suited for trekking. The Pyrenees in the north, around the Aragón area is the best area for trekking. Andalucía has its Sierra Nevada mountain chain with luxurious skiing resorts near Granada. From November to may snow sports are possible here. Visit cave dwellings, cave hotels, and beautiful natural parks in the area between Guadix and Baza. Check out the desert between these towns and to the north. Fortunately the highway infrastructure in this "wild" part of Andalucia is excellent.

Getting to Spain

Barcelona (BCN) and Madrid (MAD) are the two major international points of entry by air and both have non-stop flights from most cities in Europe as well as major cities in North America. Madrid is home to the Spanish carrier Iberia and they provide service to South America as well.

Once in Spain there is a good domestic air network with Air Europa, Spanair, and Iberia allowing easy travel to cities across the nation along with the Balearic and Canary Islands.
