One of the most vibrant places in the world, Colombia offers travellers sandy beaches, majestic snow-capped mountains, vast rainforests and lovely colonial cities. In every respect, it’s a great destination. If anything should be said about Colombians and Colombia, it is that everything here is done passionately, from every day living, to arguing, and partying.

Columbia has much to offer, calm and beautiful landscape, the Amazon Basin, large lakes, which are surrounded by mountains, The Caribbean coastline that twinkles with azure water, not to mention the man-made wonders, and archaeological digs unearthing historical wealth.

Columbia has covered all bases from, Cruise boats, party buses, and late night salsa dancing, to an efficient metro system and towering skyscrapers.

Colombia also has one festival for everyday of the year. Most tourists come into Colombia during the most famous festivals, such as the Cali Fair, The Barranquilla Carnival, The Iberoamerican Theatre Festival and The Flower Festival. Many people also come into Colombia during Christmas period and the Independence of Colombia.

Understanding The Geography

Colombia, or formally, the Republic of Colombia, is the north westernmost country of South America. Colombia is bordered to the east by Venezuela and Brazil, to the south by Ecuador and Peru, to the North by the Atlantic Ocean and to the west by Panama and the Pacific Ocean.

Colombia is a large and physically diverse nation, and is the fourth-largest country in South America.

Columbia’s vast territory is one of great physical contrasts, ranging from the towering, snow-capped peaks of the Andes to the hot, humid plains of the Amazon River Basin. Not only is Colombia large in area, but it also has a large population, containing more people than any other South American country except Brazil.

Climate Conditions

The climate in Colombia has striking variations, which is quite typical of countries with a wide variety of elevations.

In general terms, weather conditions are hot and humid along the coastal areas

The hottest months are March and April; coldest months are July and August.

As an elevation example, Bogota is over (2,500 m) in elevation, and average summer high temperatures approach 78° F, while in the lower eastern elevations, summer high temperatures soar into the high 90s.

Precipitation is generally moderate to heavy, with highest levels in the Pacific lowlands and in parts of north-eastern Colombia. Most rainfall occurs from (March - May) and from (September - November).
