South Australia’s picturesque wine growing regions provide a beautiful backdrop for any balloon flight, but they’re not the only thing to see from the air.
Float over the open plains of the Monarto Zoological Park in a forty minute balloon ride like no other. See all 1000 hectares of the zoo, and watch the giraffes, antelopes, ostriches and many other animals from your high vantage point. This flight is available only when there is low wind, since a more rapid flight would be pointless here!
Sitting snugly between the sea, Adelaide and the Mount Lofty Ranges, McLaren Vale is a patch of land cropped with grapevines and fruit trees. It’s a very pretty part of the country, and you can see it all from above in a balloon ride that will allow you take in the whole region at once.
The Barossa Valley wine region is probably the most popular ballooning destination in South Australia. With rows of grapevines rolling across the hills and valleys of the farmlands, it’s a truly magnificent spectacle from the air. The vineyards lay like a patchwork blanket across the countryside, turning a striking golden colour in the early morning light. Floating over scenes like this is one of the most romantic of all adventures, and when you hit the ground again you can sample the wines at slightly closer quarters!
