THIS IS THE SEARCH PANEL

The Northern Territory has some of the most spectacular scenery around, from the beautiful river networks to that big red rock that sticks up out of the ground at Uluru. There is nowhere else in the world quite like it, and much of the beauty of the state is protected in national parks.

The Northern Territory has some of the most unique and undisturbed natural environments on the planet. Grasslands extend for kilometres across the flat grounds, separated by an extensive river network that covers the state. Dotted amongst the vast open plains are small pockets of mangroves, swamps, paperbark forests and sometimes even rainforests. Each environment has its own microcosm of plants and animals, and because of the extensive number of species here new species continue to be found. Who knows? Perhaps you will be the next person to discover a new species of frog or fish.

For a real hands on experience of the Northern Territory’s national parks, walking trails are a great way to go. They give you a chance to get up close to nature, and really take in all the splendour the state has to offer. Walks range from short day trips up to week long expeditions, and it’s your choice whether you want a guide or not. Local experts will take you through some of the best the state has to offer, and if you’re not an experienced bushwalker they’re probably the best way to go. The Northern Territory has a form of beauty that is found nowhere else, and should be a must on any nature buff’s list.
