The Northern Territory has a mystique about it that is irresistible to travellers. A vast expanse of red dirt, mangroves and river networks, it abounds with creatures that are not to be found anywhere else in the world.
Get out into the wild with a tour of one of the Territory’s national parks. Cruise past huge crocodiles and barramundi on the rivers of Kakadu, or see giant magnetic termite mounds of up to 2 metres in height at Litchfield National Park. Venture into the hidey-hole of the Territory’s nocturnal creatures in the Cutta Cutta Caves, and see the brown tree snake or ghost bat at home in a giant limestone cavern.
The Territory Wildlife Park is 400 hectares of natural bushland, and contains the largest collection of native wildlife in the state. A minimum of four hours is recommended to take in all that this park has to offer, with six kilometres of walking trails connecting the exhibits. Whether you’re underwater in the viewing tunnel of the aquarium, or adjusting your eyes to the darkness of the nocturnal house, you’re sure to be amazed by what you experience at this award winning park.
When you enter the Never Never, you’re walking into the lounge room of one of the world’s largest reptiles – the crocodile. Visit one of the specialised parks to see the feeding of salt and freshwater crocs in a safe environment. Or meet them in the wild if you dare!
