The easygoing nature of Perth might well be attributed to the amount of time the people there spend on the beach. Perth is renowned for having the best city beaches in Australia, so who can blame them? With the most popular beaches located within an hour from the city, they’re easy to get to as well.

On any Sunday afternoon in summer, you’ll find a bustle of people from all over the world cooling their heels at Cottesloe beach. Man made grassy banks provide a soft spot to park your towel and sip champagne as the sun sets over the water. It’s a patrolled beach so swimming here is a safe activity. Scarborough is the other meeting place for Perth beach goers, and the Port-side town of Fremantle has its fair share of busy beaches as well. For those who love to surf, Trigg is the city beach with the waves.

If you’re after something more secluded, regional West Australia has some of the most pristine beaches you’re likely to find. Have the profound experience of sitting on a completely isolated beach, listening to the sound of giant waves as they crash against the shore in the south west. Further north, you’ll find a great diving opportunity under the crystal clear waters of Ningaloo Reef. This marine paradise is one of the most colourful dives around, and is known world wide for its beauty and diversity.
