Honduras

Home of Mayan Ruins, Caribbean and Pacific Beaches, coral reefs and natural parks, the tourism industry is still being developed here. Just off the Caribbean Coast is the Bay Islands with its white sandy beaches and unspoiled dive locations. Honduras is the 2nd largest nation in Central America and it’s neighboured by Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua.

Destinations in Honduras

Tegucigalpa is the capital city and boasts 1½ million people. Like other nations in South America, you’ll find a number of colonial towns once outside of the big city. Le Ceiba is the gateway to the Caribbean. Not only will you find beaches here, but there is daily ferry service to Utila and Roatan on the Bay Islands.

Copan sports some unique and interesting Mayan Ruins where one could easily spend a couple of days. The ruins are not as large as Tikal but you’ll find extensive artwork and sculpture here. To reach Copan, busses are available from San Pedro Sula.

Getting to Honduras

Toncontín International Airport (TGU) is the international airport for Tegucigalpa is the gateway to the country by air. The Airport is served by both TACA and COPA along with American Airlines and Continental of the US.
