Hire a professionally maintained go kart or bring your own to a track near Adelaide. A challenging bitumen track in the rural countryside will have you looping around for ages. Open from 10am until sunset on weekends and school holidays, it’s a great place to take the kids on their time off. The track at Bolivar is a championship standard circuit, hosting elite karting events. Anyone from seven and up can join in with classes for all levels of karting.

If you’ve got some time on your hands, you can do things the old fashioned way and hold a push kart grand prix! From a distance, it looks like a bunch of people pushing their lawnmowers down the road, but on closer inspection you’ll see a driver sitting on top. The Push Kart Association of South Australia offers a special pack to help you build the push karts, organise the event and get people involved, so get hold of that old lawnmower or pram and start construction!
