Although there are no dedicated mountain biking tracks in Tasmania, there are thousands of gravel roads and fire trails around the state that are sure to satisfy any cycling supporter. The Tasmanian Trail is the best known long distance trail in the state, and is used by travellers with all types of transport. Stretching between Devonport and Dover, the 480 kilometre trail passes through many areas of state forest, which provides fro great off-roading.
For those after a wild ride, try out the Mount Wellington descent. A coach will take you and your bike to the top of the mountain, 1270 metres above sea level. Take in the panoramic views of the surrounds before the downwards cycle through alpine terrain, forests and past lookouts to admire the view.
