Conservation is a top priority in the southern state of Victoria. Abundant in sanctuaries, reserves and national parks, visitors should have no trouble finding a unique way to experience the state’s natural living wonders.

Go on a wildlife journey at Victoria’s Open Range Zoo, and see grassland animals from Australia, Africa, Asia and North America. Pitch a tent in the African Savannah on an overnight safari tour, or get snappy with a photographic tour where you will get close up shots of Rhinos, Zebras and Giraffes. Or you could canoe down the Werribee River to glimpse Victoria’s river life.

Established in 1862, Melbourne Zoo is Australia’s oldest. Renowned for its role in conservation, the zoo exhibits a representative sample of flora and fauna from around the world. Stare into the eyes of a gorilla in the African Rainforest, or listen to the sounds of nature in the World of Frogs. This diverse collection of creatures is sure to impress.

Walk the Wildlife Coast from one end of Victoria to the other. As you pass through five major national and coastal parks, you’ll come across a bounty of birdlife, including spoonbills, black swans, herons and egrets. Cross the path of wild echidnas, kangaroos, possums, wallabies, wombats, emus and bats on one of the most challenging animal adventures around.
