Camping around New South Wales is a wide-ranging experience. Whether you’re after a full-on adventure in the wilderness or you just want to stay in a tent for a night, you can do it here. From the area surrounding Sydney to the far reaches of the Blue Mountains, you’ll find a place to pitch your tent that is perfect for you.

If you don’t want to travel far from the city, there are a number of camping and caravan parks near Sydney. Some even have views of some of the best scenery around the city, and most are close to major tourist attractions. This is a great way to go if you’d rather not be too far from civilisation, but still want to feel like you’re camping out!

For those who really want to get out into nature, many of the state’s magnificent national parks cater for campers with specially made camp sites. Some are close to roadways, so you can tent next to your vehicle or bring your caravan, and some you will have to walk to get to. The grounds are positioned next to areas where you can go fishing, bushwalking, bird watching, swimming and just about any other outdoor activity you can think of. They’re also close to some of the best loved spots of the New South Wales wilderness.

Pitch your tent at the foot of Mount Kosciusko, find a shady spot under the gum trees or curl up in a cave or overhang.
