Bungee Jumping (or Bungy Jumping) is a recreational activity where you jump off an elevated platform. An elastic cord is used, one end attached to your body, the other tied to the jumping off point. When you take the plunge and soar downwards, the cord will stretch to take the energy of the fall; your adrenalin will be soaring! Once the cord takes all of the oomph from your fall, you’ll then surge upwards and continue to bounce up and down until the initial energy of the jump dissipates.

Recreational activities such as Bungee Jumping are great! In the United States you shouldn’t have to look too far to locate a place to go bungee jumping. Bungee Jumping has even made an appearance at most theme parks and state fairs. In addition to state fairs, bungee jumping operators often show up at other hot spots such as beaches during Spring Break.

There are many variations of the standard jump, so you can go tandem with your best friend, ride your bike over the platform, or take a plunge at night! The reverse bungee, or slingshot, is becoming increasingly popular. This is where you’re catapulted into the air at eighty kilometres an hour, suspended in the air for a few seconds while the body is exposed to negative G’s (Ahh, Adrenalin Rush!) before you bounce back down to earth. There’s also the bungee trampoline, which lets you know what it must be like for a grasshopper!

If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, take the plunge and make a jump.
